Promoted from “someday” to “done”
Yes, the developer
finally has a portfolio.
This portfolio lived on my to-do list long enough to start paying rent. I could build interfaces for other people, but my own website? Apparently that needed one more “I’ll do it next weekend.”
Finally building it became a bigger achievement than I expected. It taught me to give my own goals a real place in my schedule, and helped me start building consistency: small steps, regular effort, and coming back even when the perfect moment failed to RSVP.
The biggest lesson? My goals deserve the same care I give other people’s projects. Progress came from making time and showing up. Sadly, putting “build portfolio” on a prettier to-do list did not count.
How I built it
Some parts were vibe-coded, others took shape through a back-and-forth between Claude and me. I made use of the tools available, then put my developer hat on to review the code, refine the UI, and decide what actually belonged. AI helped me move faster; it didn’t get the final say.
